Amazon Copyright Infringement Report: Evidence Guide
Document original works, ownership and exact copied material before submitting an Amazon copyright infringement report with clarity.
Identify the original work
Specify the photograph, graphic, written description, manual, video or other work claimed. Preserve original files, creation dates, publication history and contracts showing who created the work and who owns or licenses the relevant rights.
A product idea, short brand name or functional feature may involve a different type of right. Confirm that copyright is the correct framework for the material at issue.
Capture the exact copied material
Describe which parts are copied rather than asserting that an entire listing infringes. Similar products can produce similar factual descriptions without copying protected expression.
- ASIN, seller page or URL where the material appears
- Full-context screenshots with date and marketplace
- Side-by-side identification of the original and copied elements
- Original file metadata or publication record
- Ownership, employment or assignment documents where needed
Choose a proportionate request
If the issue is one stolen image, make that target clear. If the seller physically reproduced protected packaging or manuals, connect the test-buy record to the seller offer. Keep unrelated trademark or counterfeit claims in their appropriate evidence files.
Use the current rights-owner route and ensure the reporter is authorized to submit the notice.
Preserve the report and source assets
Save the report, exhibits and response. Maintain a controlled archive of original product photography and licenses so repeat copying can be compared against the same source record.
