Amazon Product in the Wrong Category: Browse Node Fix
Document product function, category structure and current catalog values before requesting an Amazon browse node correction.
Map the current catalog placement
Record the public browse path, current category, product type, item type keyword and any recommended browse node values visible in the account or feed. Check every marketplace separately.
A product can appear in an unexpected browse location because of an upstream product-type value, an automated classification or a stale contribution. Changing one visible node may not resolve the source.
Prove the intended category
Choose the narrowest accurate classification. A category selected only for lower fees, fewer controls or more traffic may create policy and customer-experience issues.
- Primary product function and customer use
- Manufacturer model and product documentation
- Materials, dimensions and included parts
- Relevant category definitions and required attributes
- Comparable products only as context, not sole proof
Prepare for related field changes
A new category may require attributes, compliance records or a different variation theme. Complete those fields with source-backed values so the correction does not create a new suppression.
Submit one consistent request or feed and retain the processing result. Remove authorized sources that keep sending the old category data.
Verify discoverability and accuracy
After acceptance, check the browse path, listing status, required fields, variations and customer-facing page. Search ranking is not guaranteed by a category change, so measure catalog accuracy first.
