Amazon GTIN Exemption Listing Error: Troubleshooting
Check brand spelling, category scope and product data when an approved Amazon GTIN exemption still produces a listing error.
Verify the exemption scope
Save the approval and record the marketplace, brand value and product category it covers. Compare those values character by character with the new listing. Spaces, punctuation, capitalization and a generic-brand choice can affect how the submission is evaluated.
An exemption is not necessarily a general permission for every product or category under the account. Use the scope shown in the current approval.
Audit the listing inputs
Read the first error in the processing report. Later errors can be consequences of the same invalid classification or identifier setting.
- Brand name and whether the product is genuinely unbranded
- Product type, item type keyword and chosen category
- Manufacturer and model or part-number fields
- Variation parent and child identifier settings
- Product ID field left or populated as the workflow requires
Avoid duplicate-ASIN workarounds
Search for an existing ASIN that represents the same product before creating a new record. If one exists, determine whether the correct action is to add an offer or correct the existing page.
Do not insert a fabricated product identifier to bypass validation. Correct the exemption match or listing data and preserve the accepted batch or case result.
Test a controlled resubmission
Submit the smallest corrected record and verify that the listing is created under the intended brand and category. Then add remaining attributes and variations through the same authoritative source.
