Amazon Account Suspended? What to Do in the First 24 Hours

A calm first-response checklist for preserving the notice, controlling account changes and preparing an evidence-led Amazon suspension appeal.

Stop and preserve the account record

An Amazon account suspension creates pressure to respond immediately, but the first useful action is preservation. Save the complete performance notification, every attachment, the time received, affected marketplace, account identifiers and any deadline shown in the notice.

Export or capture relevant Account Health details, recent policy warnings, user permissions and unresolved cases. If multiple people manage the account, pause uncoordinated edits so the evidence does not change while you are trying to explain it.

  • Full notification text and screenshots of the notice
  • Case IDs and copies of any earlier responses
  • Recent listing, banking, tax, identity or user-access changes
  • Supplier, fulfillment and order records connected to the issue

Translate the notice into a precise case scope

Write down what Amazon actually identified, not what you fear it might mean. A verification concern, linked-account concern, authenticity complaint and performance violation require different evidence. If the wording is broad, list the facts that are certain and mark everything else as a question to investigate.

A useful case scope names the affected account, marketplace, policy area, dates and requested action. This prevents an appeal from drifting into unrelated account history.

Build a root-cause map before writing

The notification describes the visible problem; it may not identify the operational cause. Map the people, process, listing, supplier or verification event that produced the concern. Then separate facts supported by records from assumptions that still need checking.

For each possible cause, ask which document would confirm or disprove it. This turns a vague explanation into a controlled investigation and reduces contradictions in the eventual appeal.

Control corrective actions

Take only actions that are relevant, lawful and documentable. Examples may include removing an unsupported offer, restricting user access, reconciling supplier records, correcting a listing field or implementing a review checkpoint. Keep a log showing what changed, who approved it and when.

Avoid deleting records or making broad edits that cannot be explained. Corrective actions are more credible when the evidence shows a direct connection to the diagnosed cause.

Submit when the record is coherent

Before submission, check that the narrative, dates, legal names, ASINs and attachments agree. The response should state what happened, why it happened, what was corrected, how recurrence is controlled and what evidence supports each statement.

A fast submission is not automatically a strong submission. If the file still contains unanswered contradictions, resolve them before sending another version.
