Performance appeals
Amazon Cancellation Rate Appeal: Root-Cause Checklist
Trace inventory, pricing, capacity and integration failures behind an Amazon pre-fulfillment cancellation rate enforcement notice.
Reconcile the cancelled orders
Start with the period and orders identified in the performance data. For each seller-initiated cancellation, record the SKU, inventory source, cancellation reason, marketplace, integration and the person or system that took the action.
Check whether the stated cancellation reason matches the operational record. Misclassified reasons can obscure the actual pattern.
Separate the failure types
Quantify each cause and identify which SKUs or locations recur. A percentage alone does not show what must change.
- Inventory oversold because channels were not synchronized
- Warehouse stock was damaged, misplaced or not pickable
- Pricing or listing errors made the order commercially invalid
- Order volume exceeded staff or carrier capacity
- An integration duplicated, delayed or incorrectly cancelled orders
Install preventive inventory controls
Reconcile physical and system stock, set safety quantities, shorten synchronization intervals and pause offers when exceptions exceed a defined threshold. Test integrations after configuration changes and preserve the result.
Capacity controls should include order limits, staffing triggers and a documented decision for temporarily extending handling time or closing offers.
Make the appeal auditable
State the order-level findings, completed corrections, responsible owner and monitoring cadence. Attach inventory or system evidence that proves the controls exist, and make sure dates align with the account notice.
